I’m Bob Essex from Stonewall MB, currently living in Winnipeg. Growing up with an undiagnosed reading disability and ADHD had a significant impact on my life. Going through grade school, I always felt like part of who I was was missing. Other kids seemed to understand who they were and what they enjoyed, but I always felt lost. In 2012 I was diagnosed with a learning disability and a couple years later, ADHD. Since then I’ve found myself and made efforts towards positive change in my life. Through this, I found new passions in religious studies and playing piano and basketball. For the first time in my life I could put my whole self into an activity and be able to succeed in ways I had never dreamed of before. Finally finding my own identity, I decided to share my story as I cycle across Canada in 2018 in hopes of raising awareness for individuals and families living with a learning disability.
